Investment Allocations
- The suggested investment allocations are used for illustrative purposes only, and do not take into account your individual objectives, financial situation and particular needs. You should consult with myFinancialAdvisor to obtain and investment allocation that is specifically appropriate to you.
Projection Estimates
- The calculations with respect to your superannuation benefits gives you an illustration of how your investment choices today affects the value of your superannuation at retirement. It is important to remember that the amounts projected are only estimates and your actual results are not guaranteed in any way. It is recommended that you regularly update your projections and that you consult with myFinancialAdvisor before making any final decisions.
Inflation
- An inflation rate of 3.0% per annum is applied to your annual salary as well as your annual retirement living expenses.
Contributions
- The current limit for tax effective employer and salary sacrifice contributions is a total of $27,500 per year. The current limit for personal contributions paid from after tax salary is $110,000 per year, or, $330,000 over any three-year period per year for individuals under age 75. After tax contributions cannot be made if your superannuation account valuation is over $1.9 million.
Taxes
- A contribution tax rate of 15.0% has been applied to all pre-tax (i.e. employer and salary sacrifice) superannuation contributions. Annual growth of the superannuation portfolio is assumed to be 50% income and 50% capital gain. During the accumulation phase, annual superannuation income - as well as capital gain on assets held for less than 12 months - is taxed at 15% p.a.. Capital gains on assets held for 12 months or longer is taxed at the discount rate of 10%. During the pension phase, all superannuation earnings are tax free up to an account valuation of $1.9 million. Any superannuation account balance over $1.9 million is treated in the same way as accumulation phase. All lump sum drawdowns by the member are also tax free.
Government Pension
- For simplicity, the superannuation calculator has assumed no payment of Government Age Pension benefits. However, you may be eligible for these benefits, depending upon your circumstances (including the value of your investments outside of super). The amount of age pension and threshold limits for assets and income are regularly updated. Please go to the Centrelink web page for the most up-to-date information.
Investment Return
- For the period after the retirement age, the annual investment return has been lowered to reflect increased cash balances relative to your pre-retirement portfolio. This is a conservative measure and may not be appropriate to your individual circumstances.
